Challenge

UNDP’s history spans 60 years and multiple global development paradigms. The challenge was to distill this breadth into a clear, engaging digital experience that communicates impact while remaining accessible to a broad audience.

Approach

A scroll-driven, decade-by-decade timeline structures the experience. Each decade combines concise editorial content with hand-drawn illustrations and photography, evolving visually from archival black-and-white imagery to contemporary color photography to reflect the passage of time.

This structure allowed historical depth without overwhelming the user, while the evolving visual language reinforced the passage of time.

As UNDP marked its 60th anniversary, the milestone extended far beyond the digital timeline – sparking a series of meaningful touchpoints that brought the celebration to life across the organization. From internal activations and staff‑engagement moments to bold, external-facing installations, the anniversary became an opportunity to reflect on UNDP’s legacy while energizing its global community. Among these, the Secretariat exhibit and the DC1 window branding stood out as vibrant, immersive expressions of the story behind six decades of development impact.
